Poem by Bill Jones for Betty
I tried not to care that evening you left me
I tried not to show that I wanted to cry
Since parting that evening in soft summer moonlight
My heart full sadness - my eyes never dry
Sunset is near red gold on the sea
Moonlight is here silver shadows I see
Sunrise approaching blue gold in the sky
How I wish I had wings so that I could fly
to the land of the sun and the tall green trees
I hear you cry so faint in the breeze.
The call to return to our island of dreams
Once more close to together so much in love
To be blown by the wind to the heavens above.
